Microwave Link Path Design – We work with you to understand your requirements and provide desktop analysis of potential network paths. Various parameters are discussed to understand performance and budgetry requirements. Variations include: preferred equipment, performance requirements, points of interconnect, throughput, antenna size limitations, structural limitations, licence limitations, third party sites or self owned etc.

Network Concept / Design – A telecommunications network is designed to support carriage of information from node to node and the performance and availability of the network is designed to support the specification of the data being carried. What is the purpose of the network? Define the performance and availability requirements to meet the data specification. Define the bandwidth requirements for now and for the future. These inputs will determine the design criteria and the resulting network design may be significantly different over the same route for different performance and availability criteria.

Site Selection / Audit – A high level design will provide 80% confidence level in the project with the final 20% coming from site audit and path clearance checks. Desktop based tools will provide imagery that was accurate at the time it was gathered and terrain maps are accurate within the stated resolution. SIte audits and line of sight surveys provide accurate data to enable final feasibility to be confirmed or allow a redesign before capital is allocated.

Procurement Management – The final design and specification will result in a procurement process or multiple depending on the client needs. Possible scenarios may be as simple as preparation of a Bill of Materials for supply of specific equipment and services to a full multi-part tender process covering design, supply, installation, maintenance, and project management. Management of the process from preparation to assessment and ongoing governance will ensure the project is delivered on time and within budget.

Project Management / Governance – Ensuring the contractor(s) perform as contracted, on time, and with limited cost variations. The latter is important with installation and construction contracts due to the reliance on variations by contractors for profit margin.

Network Performance Evaluation – The performance of a radio network is a sum of the performance of all parts i.e. interfaces, modem, path clearance, fade margin, antenna, antenna structure rigidity, atmospheric effects, fresnel zone clearance, power supply, routers, congestion, QoS, etc. Determining the causes of performance issues and designing them out of the network requires a deep understanding of microwave network radio design and experience operating and maintaining networks. We have over 30 years experience with microwave networks and provide simple design confirmation through to deep analysis of operating networks.
